Dear colleagues, dear friends,
We are happy to say, that 5th Southeast European Conference on Chemotherapy and infection was a successful event with interesting scientific programme and many opportunities to exchange the information and the views among professionals and scientists in the region and beyond.
The Conference hosted almost participants from 30 countries. The scientific papers were presented in 23 symposia and 65 posters. 39 of posters were presented by our young colleagues in training.
The scientific programme covered a wide variety of topics in infectious diseases. The most prominent topics were the problems of antimicrobial resistance in the region and beyond, the new achievements in the treatment of viral hepatitis, especially hepatitis C, and in the treatment of invasive fungal diseases. The symposia addressed also some other important infections such as Clostridium difficile infections, Lyme borreliosis, other tick-borne infections, tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, anti-infective properties of non-antibiotics, antimicrobial treatment in special populations, infections in areas affected by war conflicts, bioterrorism, rabies, papillomavirus infections, urinary tract infections, endocarditis and blood-stream infections and some topics in anticancer chemotherapy. Some additional topics were presented as posters.
The programme showed the wide range of problems in infectious disease. Exchange of information and best practices in the region are important steps in improving our knowledge and management of our patients.
The informal social programme offered many opportunities to make friends and improve our professional and scientific collaboration for the future. The »Les Chansons contagieuses« presented at the conference diner showed, that not only diseases, but good will may be contagious.
Many thanks for your participation!
See you in Thessalonica at SEEC 2015!
